Obituary of Dorothy Jean Teal
On the evening of June 1st 2020, Dorothy Jean Teal transitioned peacefully to rest in Jehovah's memory.
Dorothy was born on August 28th, 1938 in Lilesville, North Carolina located in Anson County, to the proud parents of Lillie Bell Shannon Teal and Jule Gatewood. Dorothy received her formal education in the Anson County Public School System. Dorothy loved the simple things in life such as cooking, traveling, spending time with her family and let's not forget; the infallible KFC. In the early 1960's, Dorothy left North Carolina to travel to South Carolina with her mother. A short time later, Dorothy traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to see what life was like there. Still attempting to find her place in life, Dorothy moved to New York and worked in the field of nursing for about 2 years before she finally decided to move back to Baltimore, Maryland and settle down to raise her family. Dorothy worked tirelessly in the hospitality field as well as in mail distribution for many years while raising her children, often, as a single mother.
As Dorothy continued to live her life, work and raise her children, in time, she felt that she was missing something, and many years ago, decided to give her life to God. Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the early 90's. As she moved along on her journey in this world, Dorothy decided to read into the workings of Jehovah God, and the last years of her life on earth were dedicated to him. Dorothy proved to the congregation that she was undeniably a true witness and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, beginning her years of service to Jehovah and to her brothers and sisters, assisting anyway she could.
Dorothy was a remarkable woman who blessed everyone she encountered with the wonderful combination of warmth and kindness. She was filled with a lot of wisdom as she had lived through the different situations, conditions and circumstances. Her life was fruitful and she wanted everyone else's life to be even more fruitful than her own. She overlooked our faults and encouraged our dreams with each word of praise that she spoke. Dorothy was a woman, a mother, a sister, a
cousin, an aunt and a grandmother that we will always admire, respect and love so very much. She will always have a cherished place in our memories and our hearts and we will miss her dearly. The memories that Dorothy had with us are rooted so deeply that they will last forever.
