Obituary
William James Jr., fondly known as "Billy" to the family, as "Pongee" a nickname used as a term of endearment by his loving mother and as "William" sweetly sang by the love of his life, his devoted loving wife Rainer. He now has joined the rank of his other loved ones who have gone before him to begin his rest.
He was the only son of William James Sr. and Maude Lee Whidbee James from their marital union. He came into this world Thursday, November 16th, 1950 at Memorial Hospital, Baltimore Maryland. He left this world Saturday, May 31st, 2020 at Saint Joseph hospital, Towson Maryland at 9:00 p.m. at the tender age of 69.
Billy received his education in the Baltimore public school system and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School class of 1968 and continued his education at Community College of Baltimore where he attained an Associate of Art degree in general education.
Billy loved to bowl and was involved with several mixed league teams. He excelled at it, winning several tournaments. He participated in duckpin and Ten-pin bowling championships. He would proudly display his trophies in the living room where you could see them as soon as you walked in for a visit. Another passion of his was photography. He would travel around and about the town taking pictures of different sceneries in the greater Baltimore area and developed them himself. He enjoyed playing a good game pinochle and boasting his wins, and other card games with the family on the weekends. He was a gentle soul who could find contentment among family and friends and even alone.
His life dream was to complete the renovations on the family home, his three-story building where he converted it to three apartments. The third floor is where he fixed it up for loving Mom. His residence was on the first-floor apartment. He was actively working on the second-floor apartment but was unable to complete it.
Billy had a great desire, passion and thirst for the knowledge of God's word. In his search he started attending "Kingdom Hall" studying with the Jehovah's Witnesses where he met and was swept away by Rainer Martin who became his wife. They were united in holy matrimony June 16, 1981. They really enjoyed what they were learning and inculcated it into their life. They enjoyed traveling, dining out and witnessing their beliefs. They had an intense desire to have children, unfortunately they were unable to fulfill that part of their dream.
During what turned out to be Billy's last trip, an unforeseen tragedy struck and due to this accident, he ended up in long term care at Manor Care nursing home, Towson Maryland. Sadly, this became his home and he had been in-firmed there since 1998. During his stay at Manor Care his loving and devoted wife passed away in 2005 at the tender age of 53.
Billy is survived by his sister Terry J. Barber, aunt Mary Harden, uncle Henry James, brother-in-law Kim Moir, sister-in-law Deborah J Moir, nephews Christopher Spivery and Kamaron Moir and nieces Leah Spivery and Kamaria Moir along with a host of cousins and other relatives.
So, sleep now Billy and take your rest,
we all loved you, but God loved you the best,
Sleep on Brother, Sleep on
- Tenderly Rendered by the family
