Obituary
Obituary of Rosanne Roberta Emily Wood
Our Rosebud, Rosanne Roberta Emily (nee Roberson) Wood, was born prematurely on October 4, 1963 at City Hospital (now Bayview) in Baltimore, Maryland and was the last of seven children born to Mary Martha (Douglas) and Robert Chase Roberson. Rosanne was first diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in 2014 and fought hard to battle the illness. She had been declared cancer free until November 2019 when the cancer resurged. After months of additional chemo treatments, she succumbed on June 5, 2020. She was preceded in death by both her parents and two siblings, Robert Michael Roberson and Cynthia Ann Roberson.
Rosanne spent her early childhood in Cherry Hill where she was well-known in the community and attended kindergarten at Cherry Hill Elementary, P.S 164. After the untimely death of her mother in 1969, Rosanne went to live with her maternal aunt Ann Woods and her family. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School until the school closed in 1973. Rosanne later went to live with her paternal aunt Vashti Bristol and attended Dickey Hill Elementary and later The Rosa Parks Catholic Middle School (formerly All Saints Catholic School). After graduating from middle school, Rosanne attended Seton High School, graduating in 1981.
After Seton, Rosanne received her Associate of Arts degree in Secretarial Studies from Strayer's Business College and began working in the Baltimore City public defender's office where she met her first husband, Jacques Antoine Plater, Sr. During their 20-plus year union they raised three beautiful children, Rachel Anika, Brittany Alicia and Jacques Antoine Plater, Jr. While the children were attending Timber Grove Elementary School in Owings Mills, Maryland, Rosanne became a substitute teacher. Although she was a substitute, she spent just about every day there according to her daughter, Brittany. Rosanne later became a Paraeducator working with special needs children at Owings Mill High School. During this time, she assisted her husband Jacques as a team mom for the football team and coached the cheerleading team where she developed such close relationships with the students that they considered her their second mom. Her marriage to Jacques ended in 2013. Rosanne continued working throughout her illness and worked from home when she could no longer go to the office.
In 2014, Rosanne met Anthony D. Wood, Sr. She and Anthony found each other to be the perfect soulmate. They enjoyed traveling all around Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania and were wed on June 23, 2018. She never seemed happier than on her wedding day when Anthony sang "On the Wings of Love" to her just before exchanging vows. They spent their honeymoon in Savannah, Georgia, where they vacationed again the following year.
Rosanne also leaves to mourn her two brothers Timothy D. Roberson (Cassandra), Patrick Anthony Roberson (Angela), two sisters Patricia D. Anderson (Norman) and Mary Eileen Roberson, a half-sister Robin Roberson, her aunt Vashti M. Bristol, her three children, mother-in-law, Mary Claudine Wood, step-son Anthony D. Wood, Jr.; sons-in love, Ryan Jones and Denzel Williams; three grandchildren, Marcus and Maxwell Jones and Mia Williams; nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, family, co-workers and friends.
