Obituary of Kweku Y Kemraha

Kweku Yayah Kemraha transitioned from this life on July 5, 2020. He was born as John Richardson to Peggy Richardson and John Thompson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1964. In 1966 John and his mother moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools where he had the pleasure of meeting the love of his life Mary L. Oliver at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. On April 20, 1990, Kweku and Mary were married. Their union continued to strengthen and grow in love. From this wonderful union came four precious children: Nkosazana, Ayinde, Jahi, and Dara. Kweku was known for being multi-talented and began cultivating his gifts at an early age. In junior high school, Kweku began creating comic books depicting African-American superheroes. Additionally, he was a music lover and knew how to play several instruments. Moreover, he was an excellent chef and has even trained his children to be amazing chefs as well! Kweku was also deeply involved in community activism. From 1986-1998, Kweku was a faithful member of the Baltimore Rites of Passage Kollective (BROK). This African centered movement educated young black males about the virtues of life through manhood development training. Additionally, Kweku served with various community organizations assisting children and adults, locally and abroad. Kweku had several professional accomplishments as well such as being a successful caterer where he was known for his signature dishes and sandwiches. Also, Kweku returned to school and received his Associate's degree in Electronics in 2000. Additionally, Kweku was an impressive astrologer. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a published author. In 2017 with the help of his son Ayinde, Kweku's book " Power and Grace…A Love Supreme and the Majesty of Blackness" was published and is still listed on Amazon. Kweku was preceded in death by his son Jahi in 1997. Kweku leaves to cherish his loving wife Mary, his three beautiful children Nkosazana, Ayinde, and Dara; his mother Peggy Martin; stepfather Donald Dyson; stepmother Carolyn Dyson; his three sisters Marni, Joy, and Jewel; his special friends EJ, Mark, and Kamau; and a host of aunts, uncles, fun-loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
