Obituary
Obituary of Ilean Theresa McCrea-Roberts
The LORD GOD, in HIS infinite wisdom and love, called from our midst
to HIS heavenly home, Ilean Theresa McCrea-Roberts, on the morning of
Saturday, August 8, 2020, at King David Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ilean was born to Rev. Charlie E. Goode, and the late Ruby G. Goode (née
Anderson), on May 28, 1948, in Danville, Virginia.
Educated through the Baltimore City Public School System, she graduated,
in 1966, from Edmondson High School. She furthered her education at the
Community College of Baltimore (CCB) and Coppin State University. While
in high school, Ilean began working at Shangri-La Nursing Home, later
transitioning to Church Home & Hospital in Baltimore Md.
In 1968, Ilean was united in marriage to Samuel J. McCrea, Jr., and out of this
union were born her sons, Eric and Derrick. In 1985 she married Eddie E.
Roberts and they decided to share the wealth of their love by fostering her
other two children, Brian and Dejuan. Eddie preceded her in death, and she
continued to love, raise and care for Dejuan and Brian, on her own; as only a
loving mother could.
Her love for children was the inspiration leading her to seek employment in
the Baltimore City Public School System, first as a Teacher's Aide, progressing
to a Parent Liaison, and retiring in 2008 as an Individual Education Plan Aide.
She continued to serve in the School System as a member of the Retired School
Personnel Association (MRSPA) until her passing.
She was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church throughout her adult
life (beginning when her father was Pastor and throughout most of his 30 plus
years of service) and continuing under Pastor Harris. Throughout her years she
remained an engaged and active member, serving as both a Missionary and a
Sunday School Teacher.
She leaves to mourn: her father, Rev. Charlie E. Goode (Jacqueline); her children,
Eric McCrea (Trina), Derrick McCrea of Pennsylvania, Brian Wilkerson, and
Dejuan Shropshire (Mark); her sisters, Josephine Goode-Evans (Clayton) of St.
Louis, Missouri, Naomi Goode, Angela Goode, and Diane Barbour of Brooklyn,
New York; seven grandchildren, Ashley Mc Crea, Destanie Wilkerson-Gaddy,
Stephen and Mykal McCray, Mark Shropshire, Jr., Kamryn Wilkerson, and
Braxton Dailey; a niece, Mabel Brown-Burke; two nephews, Carroll Brown and
Earl Brown, and a host of other family and loved ones, whose hearts and souls
she has touched forever.
