Lloyd, your birthday reminds me of so many wonderful things that you shared with so many of us. Your talents, so broad and amazing. We were introduced to a new, extremely gifted young man also from Maryland, Myles Frost, who earned a TONY AWARD for his portrayal of Michael Jackson in MJ The Musical. I can see many similarities in his stage presence and his genuine goal to entertain, as I always saw in Lloyd. You are missed, bro, sorely.
Love you, fella,
Ronald. :....(

On his birthday, we remember the best of times experienced with Lloyd as our dearest friend. Not a single day has passed without a cherished thought about his kindness, humor and polite spirit. May we all take a moment to reflect on just some of the joy which he brought into our lives.
Love you, fella, so much,
Ronald

Happy 57th birthday, Lloyd, on this Christmas Day -- to my dearest brother from another mother...
Tears have not stopped rolling down my cheeks for weeks, now.
Lloyd ("Tommy") is a person who I have actually never NOT known, with our 2 families growing up less than 500 feet away since the early 1960's. Brothers Lester ("Les") & Lydell ("Dell") allowed me to be a 4th wheel within their brotherhood, wherever and whenever -- from Day 1.
"Ms. B" and "Mr. B" always provided no-knock access for me to their homes, an overflowing plate of warm grub, an extra Atari game controller, if desired, plus instant sleep-over permission. These Bowsers are among the most loving and generous people in the world.
My immediate AND extended families joyfully found themselves attached to Lloyd, Les & Dell with decades' long friendships, as well.
I will always treasure the childhood antics in which Lloyd and I regularly found ourselves... nothing beyond Ferris Bueller type shenanigans, really, but occasionally quite dangerous! At one point during one of our many crazy adventures, a police helicopter search & rescue team was actually sent out to find us!
We fine-tuned our senses of humor throughout the decades during our involvement in Boy Scouts, Arena Players Workshops, Baltimore City Council of Youth, NJROTC, preppy-dressed Harborplace runs, Painter's Mill rollerskating trips, random hiking/cycling binges, and more.
It was Lloyd who convinced me to transfer to Walbrook High School, a hidden gem of Baltimore's public school system at that time. Lloyd, Les and I all flourished in this environment of arts AND sciences, and the laughs and number of mutual friendships grew exponentially. This is where we met Vaughn C. Greene, in fact, as teenagers -- not knowing the paths our lives had ahead of us.
Later on, as adults, large physical distances complicated our regular interactions, but we could very easily pick right back up where we left off as soon as the next conversation began, still finishing each other's sentences and punchlines. I am fortunate that many of our most recent communications were done in writing, so what a gift it is and shall be to go back and "hear" his voice. A typical ending to these messages would be the two of us boasting about the deep, deep love we had for our sons, Rippen, Rohan & Nicholas.
Though not a comedian, Lloyd was practically the funniest person in the room, hands down. Though not an orator, Lloyd could spin a fantastic tale that captivated EVERYONE within earshot, no matter the subject. Though not a singer, Lloyd could (and would) belt out any Broadway musical hit at the drop of a hat.
LTB, Jr. -- a truly lovable, selfless, hilarious, musical, scientific genius.
We all have been blessed to have Lloyd in our lives. My life would have never, ever been the same without him.
Love you, fella, so much...
Ronald Alston

Scott Bidwell posted a condolence
Sunday, December 20, 2020
My name is Scott Bidwell and I began my teaching career at Walbrook High School. I taught both Lloyd and Lester. It is a rarity to remember students from 40 years ago, but I remember them because they were both so special. Lloyd was in my class that was my first attempt at teaching Calculus. I went on to teach Advanced Placement Calculus for years.
While at Walbrook, I organized a hike on the Appalachian Trail. Faculty members met students, including Lloyd and Lester, on a Saturday morning and drove them out to the mountains in their cars. We hiked up to Annapolis Rocks and both teachers and students had a great time climbing on the rocks and enjoying the view. I guess I was somewhat oblivious to liability issues. Certainly today, we could never have pulled it off. It was however, a huge success and everyone left with a life long memory.
A few years back, I was returning home on the light rail after an Orioles game. A distinguished African-American gentleman leaned forward, tapped my shoulder, and said “Your name isn’t Bidwell is it?” I turned and replied yes, not recognizing him. His said “I would recognize that voice anywhere!” Lloyd and I talked and caught up with each other’s lives for the remainder of the trip. We left left with the resolution that we would get together again.
We met again for the bachelor party for another Walbrook grad. Again it was as if we all were old friends, talking of good times had at Walbrook. We went to a bar where I was the only Caucasian in the bar other than the 300+ pound bouncer! They all made me feel welcome and a good time was had by all.
Lloyd was a wonderful man and I am glad I was part of his life. My sympathies and heart go out to all of you.

For Lloyd
And why shouldn’t you be remembered, smiling?
Us, casually going from intelligent conversation to random nothings
Reveling in a laugh that only you could do.
You, always fixed in between a breeze and the forest filled with evergreens.
This is how I will remember you.
I pray I remember the exact sound of your voice – always.
How it sounded when you tried to roll it into an accent,
But every dialect sounded the same and we would laugh.
Man, would we laugh.
This is how I will remember you.
A brain.
A breeze.
A tree.
A smile.
A friend for life.
Sending the most sincerest condolences to Neeta and boys and all of Lloyd's family and friends. We will miss his light in this world.
Love,
Carolyn L. Robinson
