Edward Louis Boone, age 82, of Baltimore Md, transitioned Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Mr. Boone was born June 15, 1938 in Memphis, TN. On Friday, January 22, 2021, Family visitation will be held from 2:00pm-3: 00pm. Immediately following will be a Memorial service for Mr. Boone starting at 3:00 pm to 4:00pm Vaughn C. Obituary Remembering with Love, the Life and Legacy of Edward Lewis Boone I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2Timothy 4:7 Edward Louis Boone, affectionately known as Ed or Eddie, was born on June 15, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late George and Lena Boone Sr. He departed this life on January 5, 2020 after a short illness at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Ed was preceded in death by his brother Maurice L. Boone Sr. Edward moved to Baltimore with his parents and received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools. After graduating from Frederick Douglass High School, he attended Howard University in Washington, DC. Edward returned to Baltimore and worked with his father in the family business, Boone's Furniture and Appliance Store in addition to a job he held at Sparrows Point. He and his Dad would attend furniture and appliance shows, and in typical Ed fashion, he networked and attained a job with The Zamoiski Company. In no time, Ed achieved top salesman accolades, which resulted in a job offer at Frigidaire Corporation. General Motors acquired Frigidaire shortly after Ed's employment and he worked there for ten years before taking an early retirement to come back home and run Boone's Furniture and Appliance with his Dad and brother Maurice. Together they built a furniture empire that served the Baltimore African American community during a time when Black people could not get credit from anywhere else. The Boone men were proud to be able to sell quality furniture and appliances at fair prices, extending credit to their community. They also acquired a good bit of real estate that was rented to low-income families, which Ed managed. In 1958, Edward married the love of his life, Florence Boone. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Roslyn and Michael. Edward also had a bonus son/nephew, the late Maurice Boone Jr., whom he and Florence took in as a teenager and helped to raise through high school. Ed loved and was dedicated to all his family. He stressed the importance of an education to all children and did what he could to support them throughout the process. The highlight of his life was having grand and great grandchildren. He proudly boasted about each of them and their accomplishments. Ed was always the "stop by" son. In his parents' elderly days, Ed was still there daily, making sure they had everything they wanted and needed. He stayed connected with his roots and kept up with his cousins far and near. Ed always knew what each of his nieces and nephews were up to and came to the rescue if they needed him. He had an affinity for the kids and was the fun Grandad/Uncle. Ed was the family news feed about the Boone clan to the rest of the world. He was jokingly referred to as the Afro-American newspaper. Ed never met a stranger and had a big heart. He had lots of friends and people loved being around him. He had a jolly laugh and was always so full of life. When life was not going so well for Ed, you would never know it. He would just keep it moving as if the world owed him nothing and could not take anything away from him. He always left a positive lasting impression on everyone. If you ever mentioned the Boone boys, there was a slight possibility they might know George or Maurice, but everyone knew Ed. Even in his senior years, Ed kept in touch with his old buddies and managed to make new friends. His favorite past time was going to the Casino. If you wanted someone to ride with you to Atlantic City, Ed was your guy. Ed was resourceful. He had a "guy" that could take care of anything you needed around your house, for your car, or anything else that needed to be done. That "guy" might not have had a license, but he was skilled, and you could afford him. Ed would not just give you a number, he would call and make the appointment for you, and then definitely follow up and make sure everything worked out. Ed lived life to the fullest and loved hard. He leaves to cherish his memory: Loving Wife Florence Boone; daughters Roslyn Peaks (Harold), Lisa Hall; sons Michael and Dominic; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; brother George Boone; sisters-in-law Betty Boone-Capehart, Linda Coates, Ruby Boone, Vera Boone; loyal cousin Alfred Boone; caregiver Yvonda Charles; lifelong friends David Ashford, Joe Colbert, Bobby Christian,Levi Lipscomb; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
