OBITUARY Nellie Elizabeth Clark Brown was born October 7, 1934 in Danville Virginia to the late Blanche Lena Clark Wallington and Albert Clark. She finished her race and returned to her heavenly Father early Friday morning, January 22, 2021. Nellie was primarily raised by her Grandfather in Danville while her mother lived and worked in the North. She received her early education in the Danville County School System. After her grandfather's death, she relocated to Baltimore with her mother. She married Clifton Brown Sr. in 1959 and they welcomed four children, Clifton Jr., Anthony, Marty and Cynthia. Clifton Sr. and Clifton Jr' preceded her in death. After completing the nursing program at Bon Secours Hospital, Nellie spent her entire professional career employed at this passionate facility in South Baltimore. Nellie, alongside her husband, also ran successful direct sales initiatives with Avon and Stanley Products. Quite simply, "Nellie Brown cared." Nursing was more than a profession., it was a passion. Long before the term "caregiver" was commonly used, Nellie simply "took care of people." She was the person who people asked, if she had not already volunteered, to help care for family members with serious illnesses or, go with them to doctor's appointments to both listen and pray. She was a listener, wise teacher, marriage counselor, mourning partner and, even from her nursing facility in these later months, a prayer warrior who both talked to, believed and trusted God. Nellie confessed Christ as her savior at an early age. At Beth-El Temple Church of Christ, where Bishop Richard J. Pender serves as Presiding Prelate. Throughout the years she touched the lives of so many, to know her was to love her. She will always be remembered for her love and dedication to others. Today her legacy is measured in the imprint she has made on so many hearts and lives. She is gone but will never be forgotten. Nellie will live on forever in the hearts of her beloved and devoted children, Cynthia Denise Brown, Dr. Anthony Brown (Sheri), and Marty Wayne Brown (Karen). Two grandchildren; Shamara Thornton, and Makayla Antoinette Brown. One great grandchild, Taylor Peyton Brown. Daughter-in-law, Wanda Lakins Brown. Devoted best friend, Rosa Simmons. Two godchildren, Keisha Thomas, and Sherlonda Rooks. Two special extended children, Lynn Butts, and Warren E. Williams. Her Beth-El Temple Family. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
