Obituary of Michael Lawrence Chaney

Obituary MICHAEL LAWRENCE CHANEY, son of the late Woodrow Wilson Chaney and Elizabeth Marie Chaney, was born on November 7, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on April 10, 2021. Michael, also known by some as Frog, attended Southwestern High School and later received his GED certificate. He received his spiritual teachings at Spirit of Truth Church of God in Christ at an early age. Michael liked working with his hands and utilized them in construction, moving and landscaping, often assisting family. Michael was very caring and loving to his family. He had a special connection to his nieces and nephews, often giving them unique and funny nicknames. He participated in most family events. He had quick wit, humor, and was great with regaling us with funny stories and mimicking others. He also liked to trash talk you while playing spades. A passion that Michael shared with his deceased brother Eugene Chaney was his love of music for groups like Blue Magic the Stylistics and the Delfonics. He introduced this music to his nephew Ryan Davis who absolutely loves it. Michael also had a beautiful singing voice but would not often share his talent. Offers of money could not sway him. He leaves to cherish his fond memories; his mother, Elizabeth Chaney; nine brothers and sisters, Virginia Boone, Eva Chaney-Keyes, Barbara Chaney-Leak, Yvonne Chaney, Brenda Chaney, Bertha Chaney, Vernon Chaney, Vernette Chaney, and Valerie Chaney; a brother-in-law, James Keyes; thirteen nieces and nephews, Robert Boone, Patricia Shell, Annette Carey, Pamela Boone, Anthony Keyes, Timothy Keyes, Joseph Leak, Michele Leak-Austin, Danielle Campbell, Brian Harrison, Michael Chaney (son of Vernon Chaney), Monte Lewis and Ryan Davis; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Michael's oldest brother Eugene Chaney, niece Barbara Chaney, nephew Richard Boone and nephew Carlos Harrison preceded him in death. A public viewing will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD (21133). The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Chaney will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 in the Chapel of Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD (21133), where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with services to follow. The interment will be private.
