Buddie I am trying to wrap my head around this and
I always wanted to go fishing on one of those deep
sea trips you caught coolers full of fresh spots our family favorite and I finally got to go with my grandsons and I bragged about catching a sailfish which really wasn’t a big deal to you but you listen always. You help me out with whatever big and small. Leading the way for us when we left Bolton and stepping up to help momma. That took courage and a very noble thing you did for me,Pike and Ronnie,Cynthia . We loved you
I have so many things I miss about you just because you was so cool like that. I always wanted your visits at the house to last
longer than 5 or 10 minutes now
I truly know how much they meant to me and you. You cared so much about your family. Got to try to follow your footsteps brother in showing family love and support. I love you brother and I miss you dearly. RIP brother.always baby sis Rice

Our sincerest condolences to the Waddell family at the passing of Rufus Waddell…
Having worked at Domino Sugars for twenty years, nine of them as Zone One Maintenance Foreman, it was an education and experience to have Rufus as a member of my maintenance crew. I use the word “education” because I believe that I learned more from Rufus then he ever learned from me. I use the word “experience” because, in my daily contact with Rufus, I saw in him the hard-working, driven, tenacious person ready to tackle the latest job or task at hand. He was tough, sometimes abrasive, but always ready to roll up his sleeves & go to work.
I always witnessed the “Domino Sugars” side of Rufus. Having read some of the memorials left by members of Rufus’ family & friends, I see that there was, indeed, another side to him that I wish I could’ve gotten to know better. As a loving family man, he evidently spread joy amongst his family, friends and coworkers. As his presence on this earth made it a better and brighter place for those who knew him, with his passing, this world will seem just a bit less bright.
I am saddened at the news of Rufus’ passing. However, my sadness is lessened by the certain truth that we will meet again someday in God’s Great Kingdom. Until then, keep the vibrant, energetic, family-loving spirit that always was and always will be Rufus Waddell alive in your hearts and memories.
He will be greatly missed…May God Bless You, Comfort You and Keep You Safe…

Man, I still trying to reckon with this. It’s still surreal. He’s the kind of cat who’s always been around. When I was a boy he was the father I didn’t have. I grateful to him for that. I’m really going to miss him. His parting words to me where always the same
“If you need me call me”. I guess the best part of that was that I knew he meant it.
To my family this is the scriptural comfort I can share with you: Psalms 34: 17,18
“They cried out and Jehovah heard; He rescued them from all their distresses. Jehovah is close to the broken-hearted: He saves those who are crushed in spirit”
Rest In Peace my dear brother. My heart is broken for you.Always.
Ronnie

To the Family of Rufus "Buddie" N. Waddell:
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whosoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”
John 11:25-26.
We, the pastor, officers, and members of St. John-Wayman A.M.E. Church extend our deepest sympathy in this hour of your bereavement. Our prayers are with you and our hearts feel your pain and sorrow.
We pray that you will find the strength and comfort of the Holy Spirit by calling on Jesus Christ Our Lord. Always remember to look to the hills from whence cometh your help, your help cometh from the Lord.
Our Family has been separated too long, by much too long a distance, however, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ promise that when we live a life of stewardship to our God, we will be united in Heaven. Matthew 24:31 says; And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. We love our Family and Friends!!!
Yours in Christ,
Bro. Vernon Kelly

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of my friend and your beloved Buddie. Everyone at Domino knew Rufus, they all didn't like him, but that was fine with Ru, but if he liked you there was nothing he wouldn't do for you.( this includes you job)one time the plant manager asked Ru's boss was Rufus in the longshoremen's union because he was doing his job, that was Rufus.

Buddie I will always remember our rides down south in the Porsche. You let me drive and I remember you saying if you get a ticket it’s on you. Of course I kept that in the back of my mind like everything was always done out of love. That’s just the way you was.I am just speechless you are the best brother ever. I always said I love you after our telephone conversations and I have no regrets. My heart is broken for you. I have lots of memories of you teaching me to ride that pony you had (Blackjack). You,Walter and Randy had a pony club.Your younger brothers looked up to you and so did I. Carlos and Kisha looked up to you as a father figure and a great uncle. In their eyes uncle Buddie did no wrong you had Carlos everywhere and taught him to catch his first fish. We are trying to stay strong for Connie, Lyndsay and Charli but it is hard. We will always keep you tucked away in our hearts and mind. I love you brother sleep until the resurrection day.
