Obituary of Alfred Hampton Gordon, Sr.

Alfred Hampton Gordon was born August 20, 1942, in Buckingham County, Virginia to the late Ruth H. and Alfred H. Gordon. He was the fourth of ten children. He was preceded in death by 8 siblings. Alfred was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. Alfred's very 1st job was at Crown Market. At the tender age of 17, Alfred entered the United States Airforce. Where he served 4 years as a physical conditioning specialist before receiving an honorable discharge. After returning home from the service Alfred held various positions. Where he worked as a taxi driver and truck driver, finally retiring from Mahoney in 2012. In 1962 Alfred was blessed with one daughter Antoinette Victoria Hunt. Alfred had a host of names. He was affectionately known as Jr., Al, The Professor, and Gordon. Alfred was known for his wit and if you were looking to debate Alfred was your guy. Anyone who knew Alfred knew him for his hearty appetite from which he gained the name trough as a child. In his spare time Alfred could always be caught watching television. His love of TV ranged from golf, westerns, CNN, and Tennis (Serena). He also loved to read a great mystery, or western novel. Alfred leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Antoinette Hunt; one sister Maxine Woods; three grandchildren Ashanti Morton, Donald Hunt, and Danielle Hunt; six great grandchildren Alicia, Lashawn, Devonte, Aniyah, Zahmarie, Tavania; one sister-in-law; Betty Gordon and Mooney; A devoted niece Crystal Terry; two devoted nephews Gary Gordon, and Christopher Gordon; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral rites will be conducted through the East location of Vaughn Greene Funeral Services (4905 York Rd. 21212). A public viewing will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 3:30 - 6:30 PM. The funeral ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 with wake 10:30 - 11:30 AM with funeral to follow at 11:30 AM. Mr. Gordon will be interred, with military honors, at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
