Daddy,
I would give anything for one more conversation with you. For one more hug and kiss… The kids love and miss you so much. I would give anything to see them flock to you as you enter the house. You were such a amazing role model, you influenced my life path so much. Although there were bumps in the road. You were the best dad in the world to me. I’m grateful for your love and guidance. I look forward to the day when I get to see you again on the other side
Love,
Gracie Mae

My deepest condolences to the Freeman family. Will always hold dear to my heart how Bowyer sat with Ken while he was hospitalized. Bowyer brought him comfort and restored his soul while he faced the battle of his life. That meant so much to Ken and me and helped to inspire him to continue hope. I know how much he adored his family. It radiated on every inch of his face. I am sorry I could not be with you in person or virtually today, but know that I am only a phone call away. Much love, Lauren Dugas Glover

Reverend Freeman was truly one of a kind. His light, humor, and wit not only made you laugh, but it also made you think. I am honored to have known him, and I thank you, Terri for the loving care and friendship you both extended over the years. It was my joy to introduce Bowyer to the sights, sounds, and tastes of New Orleans when he was here for a conference. He delighted in getting a full BBQ dinner off of a food truck, while hearing the some of the best local music. All the while, sharing wisdom and making sure I was alright given my dramatic move across country. He so deeply loved you, the girls, the grands, and his congregation. He will be deeply missed and forever thought of with admiration and light. May God grant you all peace which surpasses all understanding and bring you comfort. You have mine and my family’s deepest condolences. Love always, Carmen James Randolph

I put the first Clergy Robe on Bowyer as a Son of First Baptist in Columbia, MD where we were ordained. As a best friend in ministry for the pass 37 years, Rev Dr Bowyer G. Freeman, will be sorely missed. To Terri Lee, the girls and the entire New Saint Marks Baptist Church family, I want to express my most sincere condolences. A picture of us in Birmingham, AL at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, reflecting on 4 little girls who died in a bombing. To Lady Freeman, Pastor's children, grandchildren, extended family and the entire family of New Saint Mark Baptist Church - may God completely cover your hearts, minds and ministry with compassion and grace, mercy and love as you come together to share in your collective grief and to celebrate his incredible life. Dr. Freeman had great reach, well beyond the borders of Baltimore City, and he left an indelible impact with people and communities everywhere. He always lived according to his higher calling. A man of honesty, integrity and dignity - unashamedly, representing God and the gospel in every encounter. I was blessed to learn from his leadership model and will be forever indebted to his extended kindness and support. May every tear that is shed be a fond remembrance of his life and legacy in the Lord.
" ...Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them" (Revelation 14:13).

Dear Terri and his "girls", grandchildren, siblings and all of his family and friends, I want to extend my deepest condolences to each of you. I wish I could go back in time to tell him how much he impacted me especially our deep and animated discussions about our community and what could be accomplished. He was such a believer in the strength and assets of the Black community. He so understood the system challenges that created what is happening to our community. His voice was heard loud and clear as a member of ABC's Board of Directors and absolutely as the Board Chair. He was the Chair during those "rocky" and growing years for ABC - he and Walter Amprey. My recent conversation with Bowyer was about another effort he was involved with related to "health disparities" and what he believed could be accomplished. Bowyer gave me strength because of his belief and most of all because of his faith. He served as a faith confidant in the early years of our meeting when I needed to believe but was struggling. I do not think I ever told him how much it positively impacted me. He leaves a huge legacy for all of us. Terri if there is ever any way we/I can help please know we are here for you and the entire family.
Sincerely
Diane Bell McKoy

Freeman Family,
We can't imagine how painful Bowyer's death is for you. Just know that we share your pain, and if we could lighten the burden we would. Bowyer was a gentle giant and a man of God. We are so grateful that we were blessed to have known him and to have benefited from the preached Word from him. God has welcomed a true servant into His kingdom.
We will continue to keep the family lifted in prayer.
