Hi Uncle D,
It's Nean Nean. I'm struggling right now to write this, but as I'm typing I can see your smile and hear your crazy laugh. Your laugh was literally infectious. As soon as you would laugh, I would lose it and start cracking up right after you. Thank you for trusting me to take care of you after God decided it was time for you to rest. I have so many memories to hold onto of you. From you pulling up in your Caddy listening to "Return of the Mack" by Mark Morrison.
I can see you in my memory clear as day saying "What you know about this Nean Nean" and I would just shake my head and laugh. You always had some crazy story to tell me. I knew when you came to see me I was going to be entertained. I also remember the time you called me whispering on the phone saying you won the lottery and you didn't want to talk too loud because people would know. You had me for about 2 minutes until I figured you were full of it. Then you started cracking up saying "I'm just playing". You were more than and uncle and I know we didn't say the words a lot, but I love you. I'm going to miss you and I hope you felt and feel my love.
Rest in peace and please tell granny that it's been almost 7 years and I think about her every single day. Best uncle and best grandmother a girl could ask for.

David was my husband's best friend, and my daughter Morgan's Godfather. David was a very special part of our entire family. Everyone in my family knew David as Byrd which we affectionately called him. I remember Thanksgivings before the pandemic and after his mom passed - we always celebrated this holiday at my younger sister's home. My family loved when Byrd came to dinner, he would be tardy of course, but would have us all laughing hysterically, enjoying the food and company. One Thanksgiving while my immediate had leave around 8 p.m. to go see my husband's family, Byrd stayed right at my sister's house 2 hours after - that's what I call being family.
We have so many wonderful and endearing memories of David and he will be sorely missed. As Morgan's Godfather, he has been present in her life from the day she was born. Here pictures with fond memories of David. 1) David in our wedding in 1987 and 2) David & Morgan at her 25th birthday brunch in 2017.
God bless the family, may we all pray for spiritual healing during this very difficult time.
