Obituary of George Barry Calimese, Jr.

Mr. George Barry Calimese, Jr., of Fredericksburg, VA, transitioned on Friday April 20th, 2022, in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Calimese was born on January 4, 1946, in New York, NY. On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, services for Mr. Calimese will be held at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21229, where family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with services to follow. The interment will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Obituary George Barry Calimese Jr was born on the 4th of January, 1946 to the late George Barry Calimese Sr and Fannie Roberson Calimese in the Bronx, New York. He grew up in Concourse Village, a vibrant community a few blocks from Yankee Stadium. Affectionately known as Barry, he peacefully departed this life on 20th April, 2022 from Somerford Memory Care community in Maryland. Mr Calimese was 76 years of age and resided in Frederick, Maryland after a long illness. Barry was educated in the New York Public School system until graduation and then served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. Upon completion of his military service he finished his studies at Lincoln Technical College. He loved re-engineering cars and stereo equipment (specifically speakers) and then landed a position with Metro, first as a bus operator and then as a train technician. He served 31 years with Metro before retiring to Florida with his wife, Stephanie. True as the son of a saxophone musician, he loved to listen to jazz and often could be found listening to John Coltrane or Miles Davis after a long day to unwind. Barry was quiet however his calm demeanor and infectious smile touched the lives of many. Barry made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always a true friend, loving husband and a devoted family man. He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Barri Nicole Calimese and Dacquiri Calimese-Connors; He leaves one half brother, William Calimese and a half sister, Yvette Padilla; three granddaughters, Champagne Johnson, Dallas and Aubrey Connors; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
