Obituary of Carolyn Patricia Townes

Carolyn Patricia Townes (Shug) Carolyn (fondly known as Shug by family), was born to the late Dorothy Lee Townes and George Newman on October 26, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland. On Thursday, August 25, 2022, she entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At an early age, her family moved to Wilson Park to ensure a better education for Carolyn and her siblings. At that point, she attended Guilford Elementary, Clifton Park Junior High School, and was a proud graduate of Eastern High School located on E.33rd Street. Carolyn was a dedicated employee at Becton Dickinson in Hunt Valley for over 34 years. Carolyn retired from Becton Dickenson in August 2021, due to health reasons. Carolyn was an avid reader in life and spent most of her time as a youth at Enoch Pratt Free Library (Branch 10), and she often participated in jacks and Double Dutch competitions at the Willow Street playground. Carolyn enjoyed shopping, traveling with her sisters, and connecting with Family and Friends. Yes, she adored shopping and was a frequent visitor of the Macys, Nordstrom, and Chicos just to name a few of her favorite stores. You could always find her smiling and enjoying her family's company at holiday dinners, reunions, and cookouts. She was also a great Partner / Opponent when playing cards (500, tonk, and Spade) and Bingo. Carolyn's brother and two sisters preceded her in death: Willie (Bubbles) Townes; Patricia Townes and Roberta (Mugg) Townes. Carolyn/Shug leaves to cherish her memory two sisters: Willie Mae (Bobbi) Townes Ross, and Pearle (Doll) Davis; three brothers: William (Rudy) Townes, Luther (Kenneth) Townes, and Alton (Cy) Townes (Keisha), Seven Nieces and Nephews: Kevin Lee Townes, Chicory Calhoun, Wendy Townes, Rhonda Calhoun, Lee Townes, Raymond Davis, and Eric Lionel Townes, and sister-in-law: Elizabeth Townes-Bey. Carolyn also leaves a host of great and great-great nephews and nieces, cousins, and relatives to carry on her memory.
