Obituary of Vivian E. Gibson

Vivian Gibson is the daughter of the late Rev. John Robert Evans, Sr., and Belle S Nottage Evans. She was born on December 7, 1935, in Delray Beach, Florida. She departed this life on Friday, June 16, 2023. Ms. Gibson attended school in Delray Beach, Florida where she graduated from Carver School. After graduating she enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956, during the Vietnam War. Her sister Sybil joined her enlisting under the "Buddy System" of the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, she relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Vivian accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a little girl. She was faithful to her church, St. Vincent DePaul. She loved attending the 11:45 am Mass. She would get up early on Sunday morning to bake cakes and cookies to give to the homeless before going to Mass. She believed that was her passion to serve. Ms. Gibson married Arthur John Gibson and from this union three children were born. Ms. Gibson always made time for the neighborhood children, especially the young boys. She was instrumental in the lives of several young men. The things she introduced them to allowed them to make good decisions in their lives. Ms. Gibson's professional career was in the Baltimore City Public School System. There she worked as a Para Professional and Union Representative. She worked with Special Needs children. She retired at the age of 77 from Claremont Middle/High School #307. She loved her work and her students. Her students continued to call her well after her retirement. Ms. Gibson was a woman of SERVICE throughout her life. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, June 30, 2023, at St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church, 120 N. Front Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. Following the services an inurnment will take place at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD.
