Obituary of Ronald E. Turner

Ronald Eugene Turner, son of the late William L. Woods and Carrie E. Turner, affectionately known as "Yi or Yiyi," was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering faith, compassion for others, and deep love for his family. Born on July 27, 1950, in Turners Station, Ronald's journey was one of service, love, and cherished traditions. From his early years, Ronald displayed remarkable talent as a baseball player. As an exceptional shortstop, he was promoted to play in the Pony Leagues, but his heart was set on becoming a devoted family man. Ronald graduated from Dundalk High School in 1968, having received his education from the Baltimore County School system. Ronald's professional journey began at Western Electric, where he diligently worked until the company relocated. He then joined Martin Marietta, which later became Lockheed Martin, showcasing his adaptability and strong work ethic. Subsequently, he contributed his talents to Warehouse Box Company before dedicating his last years to serving in Harford County Schools, where he found immense joy in interacting with the students. For Ronald, it was more than a job; it was his ministry – inspiring young minds to lead lives that honored God and their families. His spiritual journey was equally profound, as Ronald was a man of God. He served as a minister in his church and extended his spiritual guidance to others. Within his own family, he became the family's minister, presiding over the funerals of his loved ones with compassion and grace. Ronald's role as a spiritual father extended beyond his immediate family, as he mentored and supported countless individuals, leaving an enduring impact on their lives. Outside of his professional and spiritual endeavors, Ronald cherished the time spent with his wife, Paulette Turner, celebrating 41 years of a loving marriage. Their bond was a testament to the power of God's love and commitment. Paulette fondly remembers Ronald saying, "you gotta be ready," reflecting his prompt and responsible nature. Ronald cherished time with his daughter, Ebony, and granddaughter, Arden. He would visit and Arden affectionately called him "daddy," a testament to the profound love and care he showed her. Ronald leaves behind a devoted wife, Paulette Turner, son Adrian Turner, daughter Ebony Turner, stepdaughter Nicole [Powell, two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne, Terry, and Keith, as well as loving sister-in-laws Ina Woods and Arneisha Woods. His extended family includes nieces, nephews, close cousins, and a host of family and spiritual friends, all of whom he cherished and supported throughout his life. Ronald was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, his twin Donald, and Jerry, whose memories he carried in his heart throughout his life's journey. The bond between Ronald and his brothers was extraordinary. They shared a closeness that extended beyond just being siblings; they were true confidants and lifelong friends. One of their cherished traditions was an annual baseball game, a celebration of brotherly camaraderie. On this special day, they would come together, reliving their shared love for the sport, and create lasting memories of laughter and joy. Ronald's legacy will forever shine through the lives he touched and the memories he created with his loved ones. His selflessness, dedication to others, and the love he bestowed upon his family and friends will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him.
