Obituary of Carole W. Matthews
Carole W. Matthews was born in Baltimore Maryland
on December 14th, 1943, to the late Beatrice Wilson and
Samuel Hill. She departed this life on September 23, 2023.
Carole received her education through the Baltimore City
Public school system and would later receive her associate
degree from the Community College of Baltimore City.
In 1976 Carole married Clifford L. Matthews. At an early
age, Carole joined Israel Baptist church and was a devoted
church goer, until her health declined. Carole was employed
at the Salvation army daycare and would later go on to
work for the Baltimore city Department of Housing, as
the director of Lexington Poe daycare center.
Carole was a loving mother of three who loved Traveling,
shopping, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Carole was truly loved in her neighborhood and was never
one to hold back on words. She will be truly missed.
Carole was proceeded in death by her husband, Clifford L.
Matthews. Mother, Beatrice Wilson. Father, Samuel Hill.
Sister, Brenda Sewell. Aunt Ida and Uncle Harry, who raised
her as their own.
Carole leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters; Denise
and Wanda Wilson. Son; James Wilson (Marva Wilson).
Sister; Barbara Jones. Grandchildren; Nichelle, Irvin,
Terrence, Monique, Cynesia, Autumn, Whitney & Jamal.
One Niece; Tawnya Banks. Three nephews; Eric, Michael
and Brandon. Five Great – Grandchildren; Zayon, Serenity,
Leonard, Xander and Dakota. Richard Green, who was like
a brother. Bonus Daughter Ethel White. Godson; Thomas
Camphor. Special Friends Audery and Linda, along with a
host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral rites will be conducted through Vaugh Greene Funeral Services - EAST (4905 York Rd. 21212). The public viewing will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The funeral ceremony will take place Thursday, October 12, 2023, with the wake beginning at 10:00 AM and service to follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will take immediately following services at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
