Ray was an amazing leader! I worked with Ray for many years at Discover both as a direct report or supporting the New Accounts area. At one point, I was his admin, and he was such a caring, people person, that when left his office, I would have to remind him to make sure he was back by a certain time for his next meeting because he would stop along the way and talk to everyone, listen to their concerns, share a joke/laugh, song, advise – you name it. On a trip to the cafeteria for coffee, he might stop and talk to 30 different people. He made it a point to walk down different bays each day so he would get to know employees by name, their spouses, kids, and what was going on in their lives. He truly cared about the people who worked at Discover – whether they worked directly for him or not. I consider myself blessed to have worked for Ray and he was one of the greatest mentors/advisors in my career! My heartfelt sympathy to his wonderful family! Ray touched so many lives in a positive way, he was definitely a light in this world and will be missed.
