Obituary of Brenda Chavious Lee

Brenda Chavious Lee, daughter of Jasper Chavious and Lottie Dequilla Moore Chavious, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 2, 1950. Brenda transitioned to glory on January 27, 2021. Brenda was the second of two children born to her parents. Her brother, Royal Bernard Chavious, preceded Brenda in death. Baltimore City Public Schools opened their doors to welcome Brenda to a pursuit of formal education. She completed Elementary School #108, Charles Hamilton Houston Junior High, and graduated from Western High School in 1968. In 1972, Brenda received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Coppin State College. Brenda's dedication to education and public service was also realized through her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She was initiated into the Zeta Epsilon Chapter of Delta on March 7, 1970. She remained faithful to her Delta oath. Brenda maintained close relationships with her line sisters and many other sorors throughout the years. Working in the Baltimore County Public School System, Brenda served as a Classroom Teacher and Science Department Head. She was devoted to her students. After 32 years of dedicated service, Brenda retired in 2004. Brenda met Whitfield in 1968 at a freshman dance at Coppin State College. They began to date, attend parties, shop, and travel among other fun activities. When Whitfield returned from serving in the Army, they were married at Cornerstone Baptist Church on August 18, 1973. They were blessed with Terran in 1974 and Eric in 1979. After enjoying 47 years of married life, Whitfield summed up their life together by saying, "Brenda meant the world to me, my life centered around her, and she really completed me." As a family they enjoyed outings and vacations. They would load the entire family into the car and take trips to places like Canada, New Orleans and many other locations. Brenda and Whitfield doted on the boys and enjoyed attending their baseball games and other special activities. Brenda LOVED her BOYS! The months of October and November were devoted to many Lee family birthday celebrations. Brenda's grandchildren were the joy of her life. She spoke of them often and spent lots of time with them. She was an amazing Ma-Ma and family vacations just got bigger and bigger. With four active grandchildren she was a busy lady. Ma-Ma was at Destinee's karate matches, basketball games and dance recitals. Mekhai kept her equally busy with his flag football, baseball and basketball games. Jordan as well kept Ma-Ma busy with baseball, flag football and basketball. And we can't forget Gavin. Ma-Ma was at all of his baseball games. We all know Brenda was an educator, so she attended American Education Week for each grandchild. She went to a host of concerts and a few dances. When they looked out at the crowd, her grandchildren knew they could count on seeing her smiling face. If you knew Brenda, you knew she was very particular about her appearance which is how she got the nickname "Girly Girl". She loved to shop and had lots of jewelry, clothing, shoes and oh yes, PURSES. Also, Brenda enjoyed dining out at various types of restaurants. She loved music and enjoyed it often. Brenda traveled to places near and far. Her travels included Florida, New Orleans, California, Hawaii, Jamaica, Canada and a two week cross-country train trip. Lisa, Brenda's daughter-in-love, held a special place in Brenda's heart. They spent quality time together and each was very helpful to the other. They enjoyed dining, shopping and football. Brenda was a loyal Ravens fan and Lisa a loyal Steelers fan. The love between the two was so strong Lisa took Brenda to a Purple Ladies Night showing that her love for Brenda was bigger than any football rivalry. Brenda and eleven friends, whose friendship spanned from elementary through college years, officially named themselves, Sister Circle, in the year 2000. In that same year, they all turned 50 years of age. These ladies talked, laughed, pursued interests, traveled, and most importantly supported one another. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: her husband; Whitfield Lee, two sons Terran Lee (Lisa) and Eric Lee ( Tasha); four grandchildren, Destinee Lee, Mekhai Lee, Jordan Lee and Gavin Lee; nephew Bernard Chavious; great niece Mackenzie Chavious; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family and friends. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 02:00PM - 6:00PM at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD. On Monday, February 8, 2021, Services for Mrs. Lee will be held at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD. The interment will take place at King Memorial Park, Windsor Mill immediately following services.
